After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Memphis Film Prize and Prize Foundation are poised to announce the Top 10 filmmakers who will compete for the $5,000 cash grand prize during the 2021 festival.
“The filmmakers triumphed over so many obstacles to tell these stories and keep their cast and crew safe,” said Memphis Film Prize filmmaker liaison David Merrill. “It is an honor and a privilege to put these films in front of audiences this year and it all starts with the announcement we are about to make.”
On Friday, July 9th at 7:00 p.m. CST, the Top 10 filmmakers will be revealed. These ten filmmakers will have their submissions watched voted on by audiences and judges alike. A 50/50 mix of judges and audience vote will determine the grand prize winner.
“Memphis filmmakers are truly unique in the national filmmaking scene,” said Prize Foundation executive director Gregory Kallenberg. “Their diversity in thought and in craft is unmatched anywhere in the country and we are ecstatic that Memphis Film Prize is rolling films again in 2021.”
